Bruce Springsteen Rocks 'Fallon' with 'Promise' Tracks, 'Whip My Hair'

Jimmy Fallon didn't let Bruce Springsteen forget he's "The Boss" for even one second last night -- and Springsteen didn't fall short of high expectations. Celebrating his just-released package "The Promise," which features outtakes and extras from 1978's "Darkness on the Edge of Town" sessions, Springsteen took over Fallon's "Late Night" with a two-part interview and three performances.

Joined by house band the Roots and E Street band members Steven Van Zandt (guitar) and Roy "The Professor" Bittan (keyboard), Springsteen gave breathtaking performances of "The Promise" tracks "Because the Night" and "Save My Love." After seeing the dynamic group tear through "Because the Night," it's hard to believe Springsteen gave Patti Smith the song in the first place -- a detail discussed by Springsteen and Van Zandt in their interview with Fallon.

Always earnest in his music and persona, Springsteen lightened the mood a bit as well. He was, after all, playing around with loveable goofball Jimmy Fallon. The two performed a duet of Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair," with Fallon giving a convincing Neil Young imitation and Springsteen channeling his '70s look.

And it wasn't the only spoof Fallon gave -- he even imitated "The Boss" to his face during his sit-down with the legendary rocker. Respectfully, of course.
