Athlete of the Week: Joëlle Numainville

Joëlle Numainville

Joëlle Numainville had a perfect weekend at the Canadian Road Championships, winning both the elite women’s time trial and the elite women’s road race in Saint-Georges, Quebec. Numainville took the 27km time trial by 20 seconds, winning the event at nationals for the first time. The 108.4km road race was definitely adventurous for Numainville as she had to come back from a flat tire in the last five kilometres. In the finishing sprint, she defeated runner-up Leah Kirchmann by one second. Numainville had previously won the national road race title in 2010. The 2013 UCI Road World Championships will be held September 22-29 in Toscana, Italy.
