Not surgical treatment of empty nose syndrome (ENS)

Thanks to the possibility of combining the empty nose syndrome therapy based on platelet growth factors (contained in Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP) with the use of stem cells contained in the adipose tissue medicine can offer to patients suffering from ENS a new opportunity to care.

The therapy consists in the matching between platelet growth factors  and mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue taken from the abdomen / buttocks / hip of the patient, through a small liposuction under local anesthesia.

The adipose tissue is centrifuged and purified and subsequently combined with PRP: is thus obtained a compound called PRL (Platelet Rich Lipotransfer), which will be injected in the nasal mucosa in order to stimulate the regeneration of the turbinates and of other atrophic areas in nasal cavity.

The not surgical treatment of the empty nose syndrome with PRL if compared to the simple PRP,  is a step forward for the care of ENS, thanks to the presence of stem cells from adipose tissue that stimulate the regeneration of the nasal mucosa.

The treatment of the empty nose syndrome by adipose stem cells and platelet growth factors contained in the PRL is performed without hospitalization under local anesthesia with mild sedation and is preferable to a scheme of 4 treatments the first year followed by 2 treatments / year over the years next.
