Dennis Masina, the speedy and tricky Mpumalanga Black Aces forward, is hoping his performance can elevate his team to a better position in the National First Division.

Although Aces, now based in Johannesburg, are currently second from bottom, the Swazi international believes the arrival of new coach, Rodolfo Zapata who replaced Craig Rossle recently, will inject more confidence on the side after a dismal start to the season.

After holding high riding Thanda Royal Zulu 1-1 this past weekend, Masina can now see a brighter future.

“It is very disturbing that we are in 15th position on the log despite us playing good football, and playing so well recently and hopefully when we are back in February things will change.”

“Our new coach has done a splendid job in the past 10 days, he allows us freedom and we can express ourselves more on the ball and the results are finally coming, “he added.

With experience under his under his belt, the former Orlando Pirates player is happy to be surrounded by a group of other former Premier Division players.

“I see it as a major advantage having experienced players in the team, as it allows us to gel more with the younger upcoming players and also we can adapt to the coaches instructions quicker.

Having spent some time in Europe and playing for top teams in the PSL, the 29-year old said playing in the NFD has been a completely different experience for him.

“The NFD is tough, but I like it, because everyone is fighting promotion and to get exposure. In other big leagues, you are allowed space to play your normal game, but here they give u less space to dominate,” said the former SuperSport United player.

With the Orange CAF 2012 Africa Cup of Nations kicking off in January, major concern lies on the shoulders of “Amazayoni” as they go into recess having been in formidable form.

“The break came at the wrong time as were starting to play more as a team and getting the much needed results.

“We just have to rebuild when we report back to camp and focus on aiming for a higher position on the standings.

“Four wins will put us up with the leading teams, so it is not over yet, because we want to make play-offs and hopefully gain Premiership status again, “he concluded.
