PARIJA LIBRARY:

The UTKAL University Library was established in 1946. The Library of the Utkal University is named as "PARIJA LIBRARY" in the memory of late Dr. Pranakrishna Parija, the first Vice-Chancellor of the University and Scientist of international repute. As per rules laid down in the Statutes of the University the Library Committee has been constituted and it deals with general administration of the Library. The Committee also frames relevant rules subject to approval of the authorities of the University. There are twenty-four Departmental Libraries under the different Post-Graduate Departments of the University. Seats available in the Reading Room are as follows :

BOOKS & JOURNALS:
There are 237695 Nos. of books in the Library. Besides 1572 Books and Theses have been received as donations. 236 nos. of journals, both Indian and foreign, have been subscribed to during the year 2000.
MANUSCRIPTS :
3673 nos. of Manuscripts are available in the Parija Library. The Library is completely housed in its own building inside the campus. The Library also caters to the needs of all types of readers by borrowing books/journals/Xerox copies of non-loan able articles and journals from National and Libraries on Inter-Library loan basis. Working hours of the Library are from 9.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. on every working day, except Saturdays, Sundays. On all Saturdays, Sundays and other holidays (excluding three National holidays, University Foundation Day, Days of Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, Utkal Divas and Vice-Chancellor's discretionary holidays) the Library is kept open from 10.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. Issue of books is allowed on working days only from 10.30 A.M. to 4.00 P.M.
