Nottingham Rugby are pleased to announce that Campese
Ma'afu, Michael Holford and Shaun Malton have all signed new
contracts ahead of the 2014/15 season.
With Jon Vickers already signed up, it lays the foundations for
the Green and Whites pack which has been one of most potent in the
Championship all season.
Prop Holford has been a stalwart of the club for a number of
seasons and he has put pen to paper on a one year extension.
When asked why he had committed for a further year, Holford
said, "I like all of the boys here and I think we've got the
makings of a good side. It's been a tough year, but generally
I think we've got a lot to build on for next season.
"The coaching staff are really good and I've got a lot of time
for Martin Haag. I believe in what he's got to say. On
top of that, my life around Nottingham is good. I get to do a
bit of coaching and my family is close by, all of which played a
big part in my decision to sign."
Holford's fellow prop Ma'afu has made a big impact in his first
season at the club and he has signed a two year extension.
He said, "It's great to have signed for two years. I've
really enjoyed my time at the club so far and I believe that we'll
build on this year and be much stronger next season. The boys
here are all top guys and I enjoy being part of this squad.
We've got a great set of coaches who I've learned a lot from and I
just want to continue that."
Hooker Shaun Malton has been sidelined throughout the 2013/14
season as he recovers from a back injury; however the club have
been impressed with his progress and have secured a one year
extension with him.
Malton commented, "I'm very grateful to the club for offering me
a new deal considering that I haven't played any matches this
season. I've got a lot to prove next season and I'm
determined to repay the club for their support. It's a great
club and I enjoy playing here and I'm looking forward to getting
back out on the pitch."
Nottingham Head Coach Martin Haag is delighted to have secured
the three players for next season and he said, "It is great news
that we have maintained the service of the three players as they
are important cogs in the team. Our scrum has been very good
this season with Michael and Campese being the cornerstones of
that. They both have a lot of experience and demonstrate
great leadership qualities on and off the pitch."
"Malton has obviously been out for the whole campaign but I've
been impressed with his desire to come back from his injury and the
work that he's put in. I'm looking forward to seeing him out
on the pitch."
Season tickets for the 2014/15 season are now on sale by calling
