Charlton goalkeeper Ben Hamer has agreed to join Leicester City when his current contract at The Valley expires in June.
Although it was the club’s desire to keep hold of the former Reading man, Hamer accepted a four-year deal with the newly promoted Premier League outfit on Thursday afternoon.
The goalkeeper was a key member of the Charlton side that won promotion during the 2011/12 season keeping 18 clean sheets in 42 appearances.
In 2012/13, following promotion to the Championship, Hamer remained Charlton’s first choice goalkeeper and kept nine clean sheets during his first season in the second tier.
Having battled back from injury during the 2013/14 campaign Hamer was named FA Cup player of the round in March after an impressive display against Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round of the competition.
Hamer signed for Charlton in August 2011 and went on to make 121 appearances for the Addicks.
