IT was the Faberg eggs that gave it away.
Just 12 hours after a fire reduced her resplendent Highland castle to a blackened shell, the Lady of Marr strode into the bar of the nearby Glendaruel Hotel, Glendaruel, Argyll, and cried: "My eggs, my eggs - I've lost all the Faberg eggs."
She left no-one in doubt she had lost something of great value. The beleaguered owner of Dunans Castle insisted her collection of "around 40" Faberg eggs - a present, she claimed, from a former husband - were "the most valuable things in the castle." If they were, it did not say much for the other lost contents.
Lady Marr - the title was purchased four years ago with her present husband, Lord Marr, Robert Lucas-Gardiner - has now admitted the eggs were reproductions worth between pounds 19 and GBP 50. …
