Islanders' draw 50,000

THE Pacific Islanders rugby team's first Test against Wales next weekend is expected to generate a total income of more than $500,000.

Organisers of the Test expect a sellout crowd with 50,000 tickets already sold for the Satyrday week fixture at the Millennium Stadium.

After recording a modest profit of $110,000 in its inaugural tour with matches against New Zealand and Australia and South Africa in 2004, the Pacific Islanders are eyeing a larger profit from its Europe Tour.

Wales Rugby Union chief executive Steve Lewis confirmed that over 210,000 tickets have been sold for four Test matches this month.

Lewis told the WRU website they were on course of reaching a target of four full house matches.

The Millennium Stadium has a total capacity of 74,500. Wales matches against Australia and New Zealand have been sold out.

Earlier this week the WRU broke the 50,000 barrier for the Pacific Islanders Test. It has also sold more than 40,000 tickets for its match against Canada.

Meanwhile, Pacific Islanders team manager Joe Browne said there would be no further withdrawals from the team, ahead of its Europe tour next week.

Browne and physiotherapist Cathy Womg flies out to Australia this morning.

Browne said he was not aware of any other withdrawals after Deacon Manu and Henry Tuilagi pulled out.

He said reports that lock Isoa Domolailai would not be part of the team to Europe was untrue.

"It's just rumours," Browne said.

"As far as I'm concerned all players named are traveling to Europe.

"We'll meet up with the players from Tonga and Samoa in Sydney before we head out to London. Majority of the Fijian players are in Europe so they will travel to Cardiff."

The Pacific Islanders will gather for camp in Cardiff in two days time.

The Islanders face Wales in its opening Test next weekend.

Browne said they were seeking the release of star Agen winger Rupeni Caucau for all the three Test matches. Caucau had indicated he would only be available for the final fixture against Ireland on November 26 because of club commitments.

The Pacific Islanders coached by Pat Lam kick-off their campaign against Wales who play Australia on Saturday.

The Islanders second Test is against Scotland on November 18.

Fiji's Simon Raiwalui will captain the Pacific Islanders team.

Pacific Islanders: Justin Va'a, Taufa'ao Filise, Tevita Taumoepeau, Census Johnson, Aleki Lutui, Mahonri Schwagler, Simon Raiwalui, Daniel Leo, Mama Molitika, Isoa Domolailai, Epeli Taione, Viliami Vaki, Semo Setiti, Hale Tipoli, Aca Ratuva, Nili Latu, Mosese Rauluni, Junior Polu, Seremaia Bai, Tasesa Lavea, Seilala Mapusua, Kameli Ratuvou, Sailosi Tagicakibau, Lome Fa'atau, Rupeni Caucau, Alesana Tuilagi, Norman Ligairi, Loki Crichton.
