UPDATE: According to Amazon, the publication date of Derek's book has been pushed from May to August 5, 2014. So now it'll be released very shortly after he's finished his tour with sister Julianne.

Original story:

Here’s something to look forward to: When the spring 2014 Dancing With the Stars Season 18 ends, it should mark the debut of pro Derek Hough’s book!

As @DWTSGossip teased on January 2, “Derek turned his talents to writing books. His book will be released on May 27…” They linked to Amazon.com's page for what looks like a memoir, Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion.

There are few details on the book at this point, but the listing says it will be 256 pages and published by William Morrow on May 27.

Hopefully more details will be added soon, and we're looking forward to Derek speaking out on the exciting project himself. You have to imagine he'll write about Dancing with the Stars — which he joined in Season 5, following his sister Julianne Hough, and won a record five times. He's also a recent Emmy winner for choreography, and the 28-year-old spent part of his childhood with Julianne and Mark Ballas in London, where he starred in Footloose: The Musical.

He has a lot of impressive life experience under his belt for such a young age, and his positive attitude will probably lend itself well to a book sharing lessons learned, etc.

What do you think? Are you curious to read Derek’s book? Should someone pre-order this for you? If so, maybe share the book link on Facebook with a “hint, hint” note.
