On 7th January, Armenian public television confirmed to OGAE Germany that a national selection will take place to select the first ever Armenian Eurovision Song Contest contestants. The deadline to send in songs and applications is today. However, today the Armenian broadcaster announced that the popular singer Andre will represent the country. A popular website announced the song Stay with me as his entry, but this has not been confirmed.

Earlier reports from German newspaper Bild, claiming that the job had gone to female singer Meri Voskanian, appeared to be incorrect, now Armenian television also denies announcements were made about a national final.

According to Panarmenian.net and DotEurovision.com, Diana Mnatsakanyan, Head of International Relations at ARMTV, said that the jury selected the song, taking into account the voting results of the National Music Awards. However we can confirm this indeed played a role, Mnatsakanyan, who is in Amsterdam for the Reference Group meeting, denies to have spoken with any media about the issue

Last month, Andre won the award for best male singer of Armenia.
