About Us

In 2011, the Texas Hunger Initiative and Share Our Strength joined together to launch the Texas No Kid Hungry campaign. With generous support from corporate partners including sponsors Arby’s Foundation and Yum-o! Organization, and supporter Maximus, the Texas No Kid Hungry campaign is a public-private partnership working to end childhood hunger in Texas. The campaign is working to achieve that goal by connecting kids to the federal food and nutrition programs including school breakfast and summer meals programs.

AT THE CORE OF THE NO KID HUNGRY STRATEGY TO END CHILDHOOD HUNGER IN TEXAS ARE THREE GOALS:

  • Improve access to public and private nutrition programs that provide food to families and their children who need and are not receiving it
  • Strengthen community infrastructure and systems for getting healthy food to children and families
  • Improve families’ knowledge about available programs, as well as healthy and affordable food choices that will stretch the family food budget

No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in five children struggles with hunger. Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals through its Cooking Matters program. This work is accomplished through the No Kid Hungry network, made up of private citizens, public officials, nonprofits, business leaders and others providing innovative hunger solutions in their communities.
