As armed groups increasingly target women as a part of their warfare and as jihadist groups issue fatwas on kurdish women the feminist organization Yekîtiya Star organized a demonstration in the Qenat Siwîs neighborhood of Qamişlo to condemn so-called ‘honor crimes’.
The members of Yekîtiya Star stated that women are vulnerable to aggression from armed groups and that they must fight for freedom, democracy and equality for the peoples of Rojava. "We as members of Yekîtiya Star, condemn the killing of women and state that women cannot be considered as someone’s honor or belonging,"
