Cycle hire
The Ucycle Bike Hire Scheme is now closed for 2013/14.
It will open in mid-September for 2014/15 academic year.
The Ucycle Bike Hire Scheme offers a great deal to those who want to get about on two wheels.
Why cycle to University?
Cycling is a low cost way to get healthier and happier. Cycling five miles takes about 30 minutes, making it one of the quickest ways to get around.
Ucycle Nottingham, a Sustrans cycling project working at the University, aims to make cycling accessible to and enjoyable for all.
Who can participate?
All students can hire a bike, no matter whether new or existing, undergraduate or postgraduate, full-time or part-time, Home, EU or International.
The scheme is also open to University staff.
Bikes are hired out on a first-come first-served basis, so be quick!
How does the scheme work?
Quality bikes are available for hire for a semester, an academic year, or until August 2015 (PG students and staff only).
All bikes are ready to ride, and come complete with lights, lock, mudguards, rack and a year-long maintenance package. You will also receive free RideWise cycle training (if required), plus support from the Ucycle Nottingham team.
The University of Nottingham has cycle parking areas to accommodate over 4,400 bicycles, as well as numerous shower facilities for you to freshen up. Use our interactive maps to find out more about facilities on campus for cyclists.
Nervous about city cycling, or not sure how to ride a bike?
You’ll be able to access free cycling skills training once you get your new bike (not compulsory). Nottingham has lots of safe cycle routes, many of which are off road. Ucycle Nottingham will provide you with maps and support in planning your routes so you are happy and confident on your new bike.
How much will it cost?
The hire fee is £35 for one semester and £49 for an academic year. You will also need to pay a £100 deposit (refundable on return of the bike in good condition).
You have to sign a hire agreement 
and will be expected to keep the bike in a good condition. See an example list of the maintenance checks that are made .

All bike reservations will need to be completed using the Online Store (this will be available from mid-September).
To make this process quick and easy, please ensure you have the following details to hand:

Your height details - this will allow you to select the correct frame size for yourself

Preference of frame style (low bar/step through or high bar)

Undergraduate or Postgraduate student number (Library Card number for staff)

Card details to complete the hire fee and deposit payments.
