View SVG images in Safari 3 beta Web Browsers
One of the nice new features of the new Safari 3 beta is that it can display Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). Check out an example image here.

[robg adds: As best I can tell, support for SVG isn't mentioned on Apple's Safari pages, nor in the Welcome.rtf file in the installer files. I won't be running any other posts on the features of Safari 3, so if you can provide detail on other new stuff you may have found (beyond the obvious new menu items and the features Apple has described), please add in the comments.]

From the Safari 3 Beta Press Release:

"Safari 3 supports all modern Internet standards so users can view websites as they were meant to be seen, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG and Java."

And unfortunately, you'll see that Safari doesn't render the image correctly. the entire lower half of the basketball is missing from the linked image. See what it looks like in Opera to see what it is supposed to look like.

Let's hope Apple really gets behind SVG, it's a powerful and useful technology.

SVG has been in all the Leopard builds since the beginning. Wikipedia also has a large collection of SVG logos.

Since Adobe bought Macromedia, SVG is a non-event. We have Flash the monopoly, like it or not...

Just for comparison ... I can view that sample page seemingly fine,
using Firefox 2.0.0.4. OmniWeb 5.5.4 seems to render it somewhat wrong.
On my system (10.4.9) using Safari 2.0.4, it saved that page
to disk (didn't try to render it). I was wondering whether one of my
browser plugins was doing SVG rendering in FF 2.0.4, but I can't
see that being very obvious (I checked Page Info, plugins list, etc.) Larry
