• A rising star in the Opals line up, Abby Bishop has won a WNBA title, multiple WNBL titles and is now looking to add an Olympic gold to her list of achievements all before her 24th birthday.
• A scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport, Bishop won the Rookie of the Year in her debut season in 2005-06 after averaging 9.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in the WNBL. She backed up with more impressive numbers the following season as she averaged 10.2 points and 8.0 rebounds for the Canberra Capitals who went on to win the grand final. She went on to win three straight titles with the Capitals.
• She averaged 10.7 points and 7.4 rebounds during the 2007 U/21 World Championships in Russia where the Australians took home the silver medal. She debuted for the Opals in the same year in a three game series against the USA.
• The 6'3" forward with a strong low post game signed for the Seattle Storm to play in the WNBA for the 2010 season where in her first season abroad became a WNBA Champion. She went on to play for Australia at the 2010 World Championships where the Opals finished 5th. She returned to Australia to play for the Dandenong Rangers.
• Switching teams again, Bishop had another strong season in the WNBL for the Adelaide Lightning before seeing strong minutes in the Opals European tour in the lead up to the Games. Her point scoring ability from down low and on the perimeter, coupled with her ability to rack up he rebounds saw her selected to compete at her first Olympic Games in London.
