The latest mixtape from south London UK Hip Hop duo Krept and Konan [aka Play Dirty] has entered the Official UK Albums Chart’s Top 20…

Released on September 2nd and featuring tracks Don’t Waste My Time plus the hard-hitting autobiographical online hit My Story, Young Kingz currently sits at number 19 in the weekly countdown alongside fellow UK acts Calvin Harris, Rudimental and Emeli Sandé.

The pair who were recently shortlisted for the Best Newcomer prize at this year’s MOBO Awards, released the project independently and generated higher first week sales than UB40 and singer John Legend‘s latest label assisted efforts.

Congratulations have been pouring in online from fans and music peers alike since the news broke with Krept taking to his Twitter account [@KreptPlayDirty] to write, “I STILL CANT BELIEVE WE GOT A TOP 20 ALBUM WITH A RAP MIXTAPE INDEPENDENTLY WITH NO RADIO/TV. STILL HASNT SUNK IN. MADE HISTORY.”

Tinie Tempah who appears on the mixtape posted, “Huge! If u wanna get something done properly do it yourself.. No excuses! Congratulations.”

UK Hip Hop stars Giggs, Skepta, Yungen, G Frsh and Lethal B were just some of the other names who tweeted support for the Londoners with Konan [@KonanPlayDirty] tweeting fans, “OMG We did no.19 in the charts top 20 with a mixtape no NO LABEL, NO NATIONAL RADIO OR TV, MANAGEMENT WASNT EVEN INVOLVED just me and krept…THANK YOU EVERYONE YOU LOT HELPED US CHANGE THINGS I LOVE YOU ALLLLLL.”

The boys also make an appearance at number 3 in both the UK Top 40 Indie Albums Chart and the UK Top 40 R’n'B Albums Chart.
