BBC programmes dominate the nominations in the drama sections of the inaugural Royal Television Society Scotland Awards.

The awards cover all forms of television production in Scotland and are designed to recognise excellence and innovation in the industry. They cover nine production categories, including drama, children’s and comedy, as well a six craft categories and are for productions which premiered in 2013.

In the drama section, BBC Scotland is involved with all three nominations: crime dramas Shetland, based on Ann Cleaves’ books (with ITV Studios), and the Denise Mina adaptation The Field of Blood (with Slate North) are up against factual drama The Challenger staring William Hurt (a Science Unit production).

The children’s and comedy award nominations are all from the BBC stable. In the running in the children’s category are CBBC’s Officially Amazing and All Over the Place USA, and CBeebies’ Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted.

Comedy is a run-off between Bob Servant, Mrs Brown’s Boys and Limmy’s Show Christmas Special.

The winners will be announced on June 11, in a ceremony at Oran Mor, Glasgow.
