Overall another great album from the band.
Justin Pruitt
More importantly, the range of songs here shows that no matter what Margot and the Nukes do, they do it incredibly well.
Tower
None of the songs really seem to steal the show, almost the entire album flows well and is entirely enjoyable.

I've been a Margot fan since Dust of Retreat, and I love the progression of their music. Sling Shot to Heaven is a gorgeous album and stands up to everything else the band has done. It's a big shift from the more aggressive Rot Gut, but the band's softer side has always struck a chord.

Sling Shot features some of the best songs Margot has ever recorded. "Hello, San Francisco" and "Wedding Song" are emotional and beautiful, the perfect songs to begin and end this album. It's not all a laid-back affair though. "Bleary-eye-d Blue" and "I Can't Sleep My Eyes Are Flat" show that Margot hasn't abandoned their heavier side completely. More importantly, the range of songs here shows that no matter what Margot and the Nukes do, they do it incredibly well.

Like the memories of that mesmerizing girl you met in that foreign hostel and lost contact with (before Facebook), this album echos in your head at 3:00 in the morning. Can't recommend it enough.

This was a beautiful, brilliant album that I can sit down, drink some wine, have a smoke and listen to from start to finish over and over again. No complaints

Been a fan since "Dust of Retreat". This album is a great return to their softer side. I must have listened to this album everyday for a month straight. Highly recommend.

While I thought that Rot Gut Domestic, and Buzzard were fine releases, each with some decent songs, I never felt as though they were especially cohesive albums. Slingshot, on the other hand, is probably the most consistent and cohesive album since their fling with Epic Records. The album is much more acoustic and richly instrumented than their previous two releases, while still maintaining the grit and edge of those albums. I think much of this album tells the story of a messed up long distance relationship, and the problems that go along with a stagnated love. This is evident in the realistic subtleties on songs such as "When You're Gone," "Lazy," and "Go to Sleep You Little Creep." It's been on repeat for me since I got it, and I expect it to stay in rotation for a long time to come.
