Very good factory calibration settings out of the box, smooth motion, and acceptable screen uniformity. This one is replacing a defective LC-70LE650U, and the bezel design now looks way better in person and very thin. The TV is lighter than the other 70" models, but the box was a tad bit longer. After upgrading to HDMI 2.0 bi-directional cables, an HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz capable AV receiver (Onkyo TX-NR636), I'm running ARC successfully with AQUOS Link enabled, and I can fully control the AV Receiver's audio from the TV remote. It's functioning perfectly now as it's only either the sharp TV audio only or the home theater audio only, but AQUOS Link (under the advanced settings) is intelligent enough to switch back and use the TV speakers when I turn off the receiver. ARC is a very cool surprise, and I'm quite impressed.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the LC-70UD27U. I ran a network firmware update right after I set it up. The out of box factory calibration is very good (human skin may look like pastel at times), but it still needs to be calibrated, the colors are vibrant and the viewing angle is good. The price tag of $3K this TV is a great deal, so much that my father-in-law is getting one for himself. It also has a built-in "chromecast" casting feature that u can cast from ur devices using any app that is chromecast capable (I can spare and move my chromecast to another TV now). The audio is quite loud from the TV (mostly sharp highs and minimal bass). Mounting it was a breeze, and the kids and wife love it.

I highly recommend this TV!

I am having Motherboard issues on 2nd one too

I purchased this tv from amazon right of way the moment it became available. Delivery was quick and smooth. I got it installed on wall by geek squad. Guess what after 4 days anything I watch picture was disturbed with purple lines horizontally on all over the screen. if I play apple tv or blue ray it was fine.I contacted sharp and I was told they will get back to me. Email photos etc. I was given case number. Nothing heard then I contacted amazon and they got hold of them and they scheduled tech to come out. Before they come out I called geek squad so they can come out and take a look as my power was behind the tv so we can do hard reboot from wall so they tried doing that and guess tv is totally gone blank and it was giving 2 short and 3 or 4 long power signals which mean your main board or frc need to be replaced. Anways 2 days later local tech called to schedule appointment and he asked my my situation and said same thing that you need new main and we do not even have parts for this tv so it might take months. I called amazon and they said we will replace it for you. After 10 days later received new set and guess what same thing purple lines across the tv if you play anything less than 4k or 1080 picture is disturbed. Contacted sharp support again and I was told please email pictures and we will get back to you. After 2 days receieved email that pictures are not clear so do not attach please email in a folder. ok done that and till now its over a week I am still waiting to get back to me what the heck is going on with these TV's. Why it works for few days and I really wanted to know the issue. I know I can get replacement again but I need to know what is the issue??? Competitive Price, Great Picture Quality, Small Problems

Great picture with good options for calibrating. One problem is the resolution enhancement at the higher levels. In situations with lots of detail, the image will become grainy or flicker. It was solved by turning the setting down which where turned up OOB. OSD is obviously a straight translation from Chinese or whatever native language. Not really a problem, but when offering a product meant to compete with Samsung and Sony, I expected a little more polish. Definitely an option to consider against the more expensive models.

Great picture quality with suboptimal software

Had the LC-70UD27U delivered yesterday. The picture quality looks great (esp. in Movie THX mode). However, the software seems to be designed/implemented in a suboptimal manner:

1. Smart central only included 5-6 apps (missing Flickr, Picasa etc. as advertised) after updating the firmware to 114U1411181 (released on Nov 21). Had a call with their custom rep today, and the answer I got was ``missing apps will be included in future updates with no ETA".

2. The mobile app ``Sharp SmartCentral" was unable to detect the TV in the same network. I tried it on both an iPhone 5c and a Nexus 7 with no luck.

Very happy with this tv!

Ive had this tv, lc60ud27, for a week and I love this TV. I replaced a 55" Led that had a great picture but this tv blows it away. Streaming 4k from Netflix makes regular HD seem just ok. I cant get the smart central app to work. My phone and Ipad cannot find this tv on the app. I can stream youtube from my phone which is pretty awesome but as far as mirroring my phone i cant figure it out. The screensharing doesnt work with apple either. Tv says it will connect to miracast but Apple doesnt use miracast. I got the tv to work my onkyo reciever which is great. Plug onkyo into hdmi 1 and set up audio return channel so that you can hook directv box directly to tv as well as blueray and playstation and not have to run video through the surround sound. I noticed reading the manual that the only 4k input is the hdmi 4 input. The other inputs are for normal Hd. I want to play video and show pics from phone but I cant figure it out. I wish the app worked Id give this tv 5 stars if it did. I cant see any tv being clearer than this tv it really is amazing.
