Greek President praises cooperation between Greece, Egypt and Cyprus

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has expressed the hope that Greece and Egypt in cooperation with Cyprus will resolve the matter of the delineation of their Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) on the basis of international law.

He was speaking during an official visit to Cairo during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi .

Pavlopoulos pointed out that the trilateral cooperation between the three countries speaks volumes of the excellent relations between them.

Referring to the delineation of Greece`s Exclusive Economic Zone with Egypt, he said that both international and Europe law are relevant since the EEZs of both Greece and Cyprus are within the EU.

A meeting between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is expected to take place in Nicosia, on April 29.

Cyprus, Greece and Egypt inaugurated last November a new period of cooperation among them, by signing the Cairo Declaration, which highlighted among others that the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean can work as a catalyst for regional cooperation.
