Y'know, the GC/PS2 one that was supposed to come out in the early 2000's. What's the last anyone heard about it? Does a playable copy, or at least some of the game assets exist some place, or is that game lost forever?
I know both Trey and Greg Roski, the founders of the competition and President and CEO. I'll ask them tomorrow.
I'd also be pretty curious. Enjoyed Battlebots quite a bit when it was on, and to my knowledge the closest game we got with that basic concept was Robo Pit for the Saturn/PS.
ok, so their site had the NGC prototype listed for $150 and it sold. More than 1. It was playable. Henry Airdhey Greg, question for ya. It might be more for Trey though the BB website's store lists the (Unreleased) Gamecube/PS2 game for sale. Is it actually in a playable state? Do you have access to a prototype of it? 1:47pm Greg MunsonTrey is with me now 1:48pm Henry Airdoh cool. good timing i guess on my part xD 1:49pm Greg MunsonYeah. But we've sold out of those game. You might find one on eBay. 1:49pm Henry Airdthe Gamecube one listed for $150? Not the Gameboy version. 1:49pm Greg MunsonYeah Sold out Sorry
Now the question remains whether or not the person who bought it will dump it. Either way, nice to see they're out in the wild somewhere.
So, if there is a copy that exists, how come it's widely regarded as 'unreleased'? Also, are there any dumps or pictures of the disc?
Because it didn't hit retail. The game was not done, probably close to done. These ones sold (for $150) at the battle bots site were spare promo discs of the proto I'd imagine
UPDATE: So Battlebots just got done filming their competition for the new season airing on ABC. I was there behind the scenes with a friend who is competing. She decided to throw the after party at the Hilton's bar and...someone brought the game.
I didn't have a chance to play it, the hilton made us stop. It's so funny - we had like 45-60 people in the lobby bar, with our own alcohol, and we brought a small arena in (with smaller robots) and that was totally cool with them. Hack their TV and they get mad.
