I just had to go and check out Media Watch…to find out why it had such a big jump in numbers on the programs either side of it…..?!?
Noticed Resturant Revolution has been taken off air from next week by Channel 7. Surely, channel 7 hasn’t ditched the show already. I didn’t think it was too bad. Better than the blatant rip-off by channel 9, but, I suppose the ratings, are what matters.
Good to see Spelling Bee do well in the younger demos, I imagine Ten are pleased with its launch numbers.
There is definitely a curiosity factor with Hotplate. Any money says it doesn’t last.
With Spelling Bee doing well, I wonder if it would be worth resurrecting Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Though of course who would host it this time around, be a bit much with Grant Denyer hosting two quiz shows, though Chrissie Swan could be a good one I guess, unless there’s someone else I can’t think of.
Watched TGASBee and then HYBPALately on 10.
Recorded Touch of Frost on 72 for another day.
Then computer to crack a game level on Jewel Quest for my wife, Hecla which I achieved, so good night for us.
Ch 7 and 9 – change your boring programming or sink
I know it wasn’t on last Monday but Hotplate numbers seemed to have picked up. Wonder if the free publicity from Seven caused some people to check it out to see what the fuss was about? In contrast, Seven’s RR is just about out the back door.
Decent start for Spelling Bee. Let’s see what the numbers are like next week.
Strong debut for the Bee. Watched a bit of it and it is the sort of program that could have kids and their parents hooked.
Am surprised with the massive Hotplate ratings. Did a lot of people tune in to see the ‘melt down of the century’? Or did they tune in because everyone is saying it is a carbon copy of MKR?
As for the very expensive Restaurant Revo – just over 500k for the ‘grand opening’ is terrible. I think a lot of viewers know the restaurants have been open for about a fortnight now. And its strange to hear that the restaurants are getting massive queues yet no one seems to be watching it.
No doubt Seven will rev up the promos and begin highlighting the bitching and meltdowns. That’s what made MKR so damn popular. And it has somehow worked for Hotplate last night.
Good to see that cooking shows can only rate when they focus on the bitching and meltdowns.
Apart from Masterchef which we watch because it has none of that, just cooking.
Only viewers can give 7 and 9 the message that fake shows with fake fights are not on.
Ti me will tell how easily viewers are sucked in by those promo’s 😉
Poor numbers for Humans on ABC 2, top show maybe it would have got better numbers on the main channel.
Spelling Bee doesn’t appeal to me at all, but good on Ten for doing something original. And getting rewarded for it! Hint, hint Seven and Nine…
Watched The Project and TGASB last night. A fantastic way to launch the spelling show with good numbers.
Ch10 you keep on surprising me. Well done with spelling bee. Ch7 should make a program that sues everybody because they think they did it first. At least that would be the first original program they have had for a long time. And Ch9 don’t you laugh. Did you forget you were still in ratings season.
Looks like winning the court case is going to be crucial for channel 7.
Channel 7 pushed into 3rd place for the night, or perhaps more correctly, dragged into 3rd place by its cooking revolution.
Seven was second, just 0.5% off the lead. But third in Primary channels.
Seven was actually 4th in primary channels. 1st – Nine (18.3%), 2nd – TEN (16.4%), 3rd – ABC (16%), 4th – Seven (15.6%).
Looks like spelling is off to a strong start and did its job very well for ch10 as a point of difference. It has zero appeal in our household, but hey at least it appeals to a broad group and has some good demo numbers….might force the other 2 to raise their game
