The Royal School of Needlework offers the only specialist Hand Embroidery degree course in Europe which is accredited by UCA.

The course is taught in dedicated studios based on the third floor of Henry VIII's Hampton Court Palace in south west London in apartments designed by Sir Christopher Wren.

With superb views of Hampton Court's Privy Garden and the river Thames beyond, these rooms are equipped with excellent lighting, creative studio space, an IT suite, a specialist library with over 4,000 titles and a handling collection of antique textiles.

The Degree programme, as part of the wider Royal School of Needlework (RSN) founded in 1872, is in the unique position to draw upon the organisation's history, experience of technical teaching of hand embroidery and its vast Collection of over 60,000 objects including embroidery, business archives and photographs.

The RSN's skills as the international centre for excellence in the art of hand embroidery are very much in demand today by couture fashion houses and for individual and public commissions and Degree students may be invited to help work high profile embroidered pieces for clients.
