Tour

January 23, 2016

Lansing, MI

Rachel will perform Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Timothy Muffitt, conducting.

The program also includes Berlioz’ King Lear Overture and Dvok’s Symphony No. 8.

Rachel has said that the Scottish Fantasy is definitely one of her favorite pieces to perform. The concerto, from the 1800s, is based on Scottish fiddle tunes from the 1700s. In crafting her interpretation, Rachel researched and found all of the fiddle tunes and traveled to Scotland to study them with Scottish fiddlers. These insights allow her to bring an authentic flavor to her performances of the Bruch concerto.

Her recording of Scottish Fantasies recorded with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Alexander Platt conducting, presented the Bruch along with other 19th Century classical works for violin and orchestra that also used traditional Scottish tunes.

Program notes for the concert are available here.
