HOYA ATHLETICS

Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Verizon Center has been home to Georgetown's men's basketball team since 1997. Located just a few blocks from Capital Hill at 7th and F Streets NW, the Verizon Center sits in the middle of a restaurant/shopping district known as Gallery Place.

In its basketball configuration the arena seats 20,600 fans. The Verizon Center hosted the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds after hosting the 2008 and 2002 NCAA tournament First and Second Rounds and the 2006 Regionals.

With the largest video scoreboard of its kind and Electrosonic video walls which can run an image down the length of the arena, Verizon Center is the only state-of-the-art arena in Washington, D.C. The building is also equipped with 110 luxury suites and the Acela Club restaurant which gives diners a bird's-eye view of the action.

The Hoyas have their own permanent locker room at the Verizon Center including coaches' and trainers' offices. Although the Hoyas use the on-campus practice facility of McDonough Arena, there is a full practice gym available at the Verizon Center for the team's use.

The Hoyas share their home with the Washington's Wizards (NBA), Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Mystics (WNBA), plus concerts, family shows and sporting events. The Verizon Center also hosted the 2003 NBA All-Star weekend.

Georgetown holds a 144-55 mark (72.3% winning pecentage) in the building.

Metro Access
The Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station is conveniently located directly underneath Verizon Center with access to the Red, Yellow and Green lines. Click here for a Metro map.

Parking
There are approximately 10,000 parking spaces available in area parking lots and garages within 10 blocks of Verizon Center.
