The Neighbourhood Statistics Service was established in 2000 to address significant gaps in the information required for evidence-based policy making, and to contribute to achieving the Government's National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal.
Documentation relating to the creation of the Neighbourhood Statistics Service, and subsequent reports to ministers, can be found in the archive.
The Neighbourhood Statistics website contains a wealth of Official Statistics, including data from the 2001 and 2011 Censuses.
