PUNJAB: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday decided to nominate Marvi Memon as a member of the National Assembly from Punjab’s reserved seats for women, Express News reported.

Marvi had lost her seat from Sindh during the general elections on May 11, 2013. The PML-N’s Aisha Javed and Saba Sadiq were also nominated for the reserved seats.

The three nominated MNAs had left Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in favour of PML-N earlier.

Prime minister-elect Nawaz Sharif had welcomed Marvi after offering PML-Q leaders membership to his party if they apologised to the nation for supporting a dictator.

On Marvi’s joining PML-N, Nawaz had said “Marvi’s approach towards issues is pragmatic. She will prove to be an asset for the party.”

The PML-N has reached a simple majority with 144 seats in the National Assembly after a number of independents joined the party.

This number is expected to rise with the inclusion of women and minorities reserved seats.

We heard that she was so gifted that people will elect her. But when not, by hook or crook they get into NA. There should be no reserved seats.

Is the offer also valid for Chaudhrys?

By the way, welcome to the National Assembly Marvi. Plz forget that you twice failed to win a seat on PML-N ticket in your own constituency.

She was an asset for Musharraf, she will prove to be an asset for PML-N, and then will become a PTI asset after 5 years. Some people excel the art of changing loyalties, and enjoy the best of all worlds. There’s nothing wrong about that. I’m just puzzled by the intellect of the “leaders” who accept them, as I don’t see any real value of rewarding her, instead of old PML-N loyalists.

    Welcome Marvi Memon ,

Could you please raise the issue of changing parties and do some changes in the constitution

1Corrupt , defaulters , loan waivers and Tax cheaters , gangsters must be stopped from contesting Election

2 If elected members wants to change party , He has to go through Election process from same constituency and pay Election Commission the expenses

3 . Should not allow an Independent Candidate for contesting Election to avoid horse trading and black mailing by Independent Candidates , a burden on Tax Payers

Hope we will be able form an Ethic Commission ( Like in Canada , where $ 90,000 wrongly claimed by a Senator is causing a severe blow to Pm Harper ) responsible to take firm decision on misuse on tax Payers money

Lets hope for the best and pray a polite culture in place

If Marvi has any moral integrity, which I doubt, then she shall not accept to be elected to the parliament through reserved seat after loosing in the elections. However if she is really keen to be an MNA then she shall better get elected through a by-election. Taking a back door path to Parliament would make her even more smaller.

Mavi Memon is very hard working. I saw her in sit-in (Dharna) for the effected people of
Gilgit Balistan when there was blockage to the river. She sat there fwith common people for many days.

if she did it for Gilgit Baltistan people, then she deserves seat from any where in Pakistan.

Any how just checked Election commission notification and she has been nominated from the Sind quota not Punjab quota.

The recommendation by Nawaz Sharif is as below

Marvi Memon resigns from NA, PML-Q

Updated at: 1442 PST, Wednesday, June 22, 2011
ISLAMABAD: Marvi Memon has resigned from her seat in the National Assembly and from the PML-Q, Geo News reported.
Speaking to the media, Memon said that she took the decision in protest of the PML-Q joining the government and in opposition of the budget which was against the aspirations of the people.

She added that current government was working against the people of Pakistan and the PML-Q leaders did not live up to the voters by leaving the opposition and joining the government.

“The PML-Q did not correct the disastrous course of the government” she said. The statement read out by Marvi Memon listed the government as being inadequate, not serving the people, not responding to natural disasters, not protecting the country’s sovereignty and depriving people of basic human rights.
Memon added that under these circumstances she could no longer be a member of the National Assembly and that she would not take back her resignations under any circumstance. She however did say that her struggle for justice would continue on the streets and in courts.
