WHILE some footballers spend Saturday nights in establishments of ill-repute, indulging in their own dubious interpretations of community work, Brian McPhee can more often than not be found fighting fires.

For almost four years now, the Airdrie United forward has been dealing with emergencies in his chosen career as a firefighter, but tomorrow he will be required to exhibit his heroism on the pitch as his side strive to avoid automatic relegation to the second division.
With the North Lanarkshire club ahead of Ross County at the foot of the table by just two goals in the quest to avoid demotion, a victory against Queen of the South should be enough to afford them a chance of survival via the play-offs. …
