Pharrell Williams has done a lot of interesting, fabulous wonderful things… that I’ve never really paid attention to. But today all that changes. Because the super-poducer/entrepreneur/N.E.R.D. just won me over by co-signing the most brilliant concept/web show ever, ever, in the history of ever-dome. I’ve been watching Issa Rae’s Awkward Black Girl since the love of my life put me on to it last year, and it has changed my universe in only good and positive ways. Just days ago, Pharrell introduced his new brand/site/concept, i am OTHER and he made the second season of Awkward Black Girl apart of the movement. I’m beyond pumped! Check out his intro and more ABG madness inside.
Pharrell introduces i am OTHER
Now this part is… awkward. I honestly have no idea how to introduce Awkward Black Girl! It’s an award winning-web series that I used to only watch as a reward to myself. Like, I’d be in the abyss of applying for freelance jobs and I’d tell myself, if you submit one more application, I’ll let you watch Awkward Black Girl. Suffice it to say, the series got me through a really *special* time in my life. Did I mention that it’s a show about the misadventures of an awkward black girl? Ok, well, it is. Issa Rae graduated from Stanford because that’s how she rolls and now her brilliant idea has a cult following of which I am proudly apart (JOIN US…) There’s no way I can really do her justice, so I’ll let the creator and star of the show introduce herself.
AWB Season 2 Promo (feat. Pharrell)
Pharrell’s i am OTHER State Of The Union With Issa Rae
Season 2 of ABG started yesterday so YOU and I both have some catching up to do. Get thee to Awkward Black Girl right now, and if you don’t know why I’m all excited, do catch up on last season’s episodes. It will make you happier than Cold Stone Creamery and Paris and Wes Anderson movies and everything good in life combined. Promise.
Oh, I almost forgot: the awkward moment in the post where I have to say that everyone can enjoy watch the show– awkward and non-awkward people of all races, ethnicities and creeds. Ok, moving on.
Pharrell, well, you got me. I LIKE you. Between Issa Rae and Nardwuar (who is also all over his i am OTHER site), I’m liking the direction he’s taking.
What do ya’ll think about this N.E.R.D.‘s newest venture? And pleeeeease tell me we have ABG fans at PITNB!
