St John Kemble Pilgrimage 17th August 2008

St John Kemble was martyred on 22nd August 1679. Each year, the Parish makes a pilgrimage to his graveside, in the church yard at Welsh Newton. The event takes place on the Sunday near the anniversary of the martyrdom, by kind permission of the local rector.

Some pilgrims walk from Monmouth to Welsh Newton, where they are joined, in the afternoon, for a short service at the graveside. All then return to St Mary's, Monmouth for Benediction, followed by tea in the garden.
