About nine weeks after her ex-husband Alec Godwin remarried, gospel R&B singer Kefee Obareki has also settled down with a new partner, tying the knot yesterday with popular radio host and show producer Teddy Esosa Don-Momoh popularly known as Da Fresh Prince.
The couple tied the knot on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Sapele, Delta State. The wedding ceremony and news about their marriage was however kept on a low.
‘Thank You Jesus! I Owe it all to You!!!‘, a joyous Kefee exclaimed hours ago though microblogging site Twitter amidst all the congratulatory messages she received.
The couple have managed till now to keep their relationship away from the Press and general public. Teddy was however present at Kefee’s Branama Kitchen launch on Sunday, February 5, 2012 and was seen severally whispering into her ears during the launch.
Teddy has worked as host and producer of the Morning Splash on Star FM 101.5 since 2003. We’re told Kefee’s new husband was familiar with Kefee and Alec during their brief marriage. A source says Teddy was Alec’s music’s primary contact for plugging at Star FM.
Calls placed to Teddy’s phone were not answered neither were text messages replied as at the time of this report.
Kefee ended her three-year marriage with Alec Godwin in 2008 after protracted marital problems and a very public feud. Although her ex-hubby accused her of infidelity, the singer has not been romantically linked with any man until this surprise wedding.

Ena Ofugara As pertains Teddy “Fresh Prince” Esosa. Someone in my inbox and Chico here (comment above) says he betrayed Alec as he was Alec’s friend. hmmmm. Really! DJ magic (he commented earlier) has known Teddy for a looooooong time. Teddy like DJ Magic is a radio presenter. Teddy promoted Branama and KOKOROKO. Teddy promoted Zarokome. He is like a pillar to Delta and Edo singers. He never asks for tips like most others. he will tell u if ur song is good or not and will play it until u are popular and earning money. he is a nice guy. Now Kefee never took songs on her own to Teddy while at Alec’s Music. Either I or Alec did. I am sure it was when Kefee promoted KOKOROKO on her own they met and spoke alone for the very first time. Teddy is good looking and kind. he is also unmarried. When Alec seized all the new songs of Kefee and Kefee had to go to Ksolo (a producer) who got her his protege Timaya for the monster collabo KOKOROKO, it was a brokeand crying Kefee that went to Teddy to help her. Teddy got the DJ Magics etc and did what he does for everyone and not just kefee…he helped her. No one understands attraction and how love works. And the use of “friend” must be limited. Teddy is not Alec’s friend. Teddy is not my friend. I dont know where Teddy lives nor does Alec. Yet Teddy’s number is on my phone and we smile and greet and laugh and go out for lunch. All managers, record labels, promoters, deejays etc meet and network. it does not make us all friends. There are ones we are closer to but the use of the word “friend” i disagree with. Chico Isigwe says it like Teddy visits us at Alec music and hangs out or calls Alec just to say “hi”. It is not so. when Alec has a new song, he goes to Teddy. It is a working relationship.
And again, Chico makes us believe Alec beats Kefee so as to stop her from sleeping around. hmmmm. If u know some things as told me by Alec, u will never accuse Kefee of cheating. I can only say what is already in public domain and it is that “alec met Kefee as a virgin”. he said so himself. The others i cannot tell u but those who know some barbaric culture of the Urhobos will have an idea where i am coming from.
I know Teddy “Fresh Prince” Esosa personally and if there ever is a nice gentle kind and handsome man, Teddy is and I am just glad He and Kefee Branama have found love. Background: Alec was Kefee’s choir master and formed Estee and Kefee upon disolution of his group G-Light of which Sam Soft, Silas, Jeff Ukiri and latterly Assent Tweed were members of.
Upon Estee going to America, Kefee was thus a solo artiste. The song BRANAMA was written by Kefee when Alec left her for a Port Harcourt girl. when Alec came back to her, she “Branama” which is her tears were wiped and so she can “do yanga” again. Alec also took her to Jeff and Assent’s house in PH were Jeff introduced them to King Buski, Jeff’s Uncle Asu Ekiye’s producer. The sick Kefee sang that song and fainted in the studio after singing it. jeff Assesnt and Alec nursed her back to health. Before then they had recorded other hits like Woruno written by Kefee’s Uncle and Akpo etc. Thus to say Alec didnt “make kefee” is a bit misleading. however we must also remember that God still would have raised another person to fulfill kefee’s destiny if Alec hadnt done it.
making a good song is nothing. My laptop is filled with great songs needing finance for promotion. Kefee’s uncle thus did the most as he brought the money for the promotion, provided his house as location for and financed the videos, put 3 of his expensive cars down etc etc. thus Alec Music really cannot be said to be Kefee’s “record label” label per se as her Uncle Obareki sponsored or executively produced that album. he housed them and provided the costumes etcetera. That is what a label does. ALEC AT BEST WAS KEFEE’S MANAGER WHICH MAKES HIM KEFEE’S EMPLOYEE and not boss nor record label. However, since Kefee was affianced to him, and set to marry him, Alec was allowed to be her “boss and record label” when according to industry practise, Kefee’s uncle is.
Chief Igbuya former Chairman of Sapele Local Government till date can also claim to have made Kefee. He brought Chief Obule and Austin Ayomidejo and other politicians to donate to Kefee (not Alec) during her album launch. He told Kefee “You are my neighbour. you are Urhobo. you are letting an Edo State boy come to invite me to your launch? Dont you know you are my daughter?” Till this day, Obule and Igbuya remain avuncular to Kefee because she is Urhobo and their daughter. It is the almost two million realized that Alec used in renting an office cum studio at Gbemisola off Allen avenue.
Now industry practice would have made Alec only entitled to between 15 to 30 percent ONLY as her manager. and even as a label, the money was donated to Kefee not Alec. but once again, because Alec was Kefee’s fiance, he got to keep the money and used it as he deemed fit and he built himself a record label WITH HER MONEY.
KEFEE OBEYS ALEC. Kefee’s wedding is the first wedding that they used the groom’s church and not the bride. Kefee’s father had left Alec’s Father;s church Temple of deliverance. Alec’s parents calling from America said they would never enter Kefee’s father’s church (which is like Ayo Oritsejafor never entering RAINBOW as it broke away from his church) Alec and Kefee asked me to get them EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH sapele and i called my mother Deaconess Agnes Ofugara to help us get Ebenezer. Upon Alec’s father arriving and seeing the media buzz the wedding was going to bring, he insisted that the wedding must be at Temple of Deliverance which is not the bride’s church. KEFEE and her father surprisingly agreed. You will all agree with me that this is a big sacrifice on the part of Kefee. Henry, did u marry in ur church or the bride’s church? what is the usual practice?
Upon Alec’s brothers joining us, I left Alec. but before then, i personally witnessed Alecs second hitting of Kefee. the first was a mere slap on their drive to Sapele. They turned back and when I asked why, kefee told me Alec slapped her twice while driving. Alec smiled as she told me. But the next one was not so funny. I saw Kefee in pains and could not talk the next day at the office. when i asked kefee told me her interview was supposed to be on television and she wanted to watch it. Alec was playing our passion PS2 soccer. Kefee went and changed the channel. Now everyone who plays soccer on PS2 knows how annoying it is but Alec’s reaction was not commensurate IMO. in his presence Kefee told me Alec started beating her up. he punched her throat and said “na this ur voice make u dey branama for me abi?” and also removed the mop from the stick and struck her severally with it. I drove Kefee to the the show Victor Oladokun did at Eko Le Merrdienne that day. Gordons was MC and that was the period Sammy Okposo was suspended and Victor Oladokun made disparaging comments about him and his not writing Wellu Wellu his hit song and how Gordons wrote it and Sammy Okposo stole it. Kefee was in pains. she could not rest her back on the seat in the car.
FOR AN URHOBO GIRL SINGER WHO THE HUSBAND AGREES HE MET AS A VIRGIN, TO PACK AND LEAVE HIM, SHE MUST HAVE SEEN HELL.
Notice how everyone who worked with Alec are supporting Kefee. I was angry at her too but this girl, upon separation from Alec called everybody and apologized. At Encomium Independence party held at Planet One, kefee stopped in her Jeep and said “Ena my brother” we hadnt spoken for over two years. She wanted to talk, I smiled and said “Omote, our STAR” In that one moment, without talking, we both knew what was up. She did same to everyone including Gordons, Rymzo, and everyone her husband fought with. KEFEE is a star. Yet humbly she called up everyone and mended fences her husband broke.
Ena Ofugara i write this for those who need illumination. Kefee Branama is a gospel singer and if she leaves a man and remarries, people ought to know why and having known may make their own summations…for or against her. She never said she was perfect. SHE IS NOT. however, those who think giving a husband every single cent u av (Alec was signatory to her account and does the withdrawals) and then getting beat up enough to stay in the hospital for days and days, those who feel a woman should endure till like many examples she finally dies ( witnessed two beatings one of which her throat was punched and mop stick used on her body.) those who also believe a girl in her very early thirties should leave alone forever because her first marriage was unkind to her, those who do not want a woman to ever find joy again because she is a divorcee, go ahead and throw ur stones at her. my belief is that God in his INFINITE MERCIES HAS GIVEN THEM BOTH A SECOND CHANCE…Alec and Happy, Kefee and Teddy…at marital bliss. I strongly believe they have both learnt precious lessons from their earlier mishap and are better people for it.
may God forgive Keffe and teddy for their past and present atrocities.Keffee should stop deceiving herself by telling us she sings gospel music. let her begin to sing reggae or dancehall.
