CNU grad lives life in the fast lane as FOX NASCAR broadcaster

Kaitlyn Vincie

SMITHFIELD (WAVY) – Kaitlyn Vincie says she knew from a young age, she wanted to be a sports journalist. More specifically, she added, she knew she wanted to “work in NASCAR specifically.”

These days, she’s living the dream.  A rising star at FOX Sports, she’s a reporter and host for FOX Sports 1’s NASCAR Race Hub, and is a pit-road reporter covering the NASCAR Truck Series.

“The right door opened at the right time,” said Vincie, who did much of the work trying to open that door.

A Harrisonburg native, she graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2010, and found work very quickly, doing small-time television covering Langley Speedway in Hampton. It wasn’t long before FOX Sports/Speed picked her up, signing the young talent in 2012.

Her star has been rising ever since.

Since beginning as a social media correspondent, Vincie has interviewed the likes of six-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, three-time Cup champion Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and just about any other star of the sport that comes to mind. “Just being able to interview…the champions of our sport…that’s the coolest part,” said Vincie.

Just like any driver making his or her way through the ranks, Vincie hopes to make it to the top, reporting from pit road during a Sprint Cup race one day. “Maybe doing a Cup race in the next five years is a reasonable goal,” she says.

But she added that she’s in no rush, and is certainly “enjoying the now.”
