See Elizabeth Banks In Action On The Set Of ‘Power Rangers’

Rita Repulsa has unleashed her deadly forces on the unsuspecting town of Angel Grove and cameras were on hand to capture it.  Well… in Richmond, Canada which is standing in for the fictitious Angel Grove, California, the setting of the original ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ TV series.  And Elizabeth Banks is headlining the cast of the new big screen adaptation, now shooting, as Rita Repulsa, a powerful space witch who, at least in this version, will have a connection to Zordon and the Rangers.

Feeling sheepish that I thought this was Once Upon A Time, which would usually be filming in Steveston.  But finding out this is Elizabeth Banks in the new Power Rangers movie is even more exciting!! Hopefully, it’ll just be a matter of time before we get a glimpse of the Power Rangers themselves in action.

power-rangers_The new film is directed by Dean Israelite and also stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart the Pink Ranger, R.J. Cyler as Billy Cranston the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor the Black Ranger and Becky G. as Trini Kwan the Yellow Ranger.

The film also stars David Denman (‘The Office’, ‘Parenthood’) as Jason’s dad Sam, Anjali Jay (‘The Age of Adeline’, ‘Continuum’) as Kimberly’s mother Maddy, Patrick Sabongui (‘The Flash’) as Mr. Kwan, Trini’s father and Lisa Berry (‘Continuum’, ‘Supernatural’) as Candace Cranston, Billy’s mother.  Emily Maddison has been cast as a character named Rebecca.

The film, from Lionsgate, is scheduled for release on March 24, 2017.  Are you ready to morph?
