Halifax Hurricanes Bolster Roster With Deadline ApproachingFriday Mar 11, 2016 in News by Halifax Hurricanes () comments Halifax (NS) – The Halifax Hurricanes are pleased to announce the strengthening of their roster by the addition of several key players prior to Tuesday's NBL Canada transactional deadline.
The Hurricanes have acquired 6'4 guard Cameron Bennerman and 6'7 Canadian combo forward Kevin Loiselle.
Bennerman, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, played his collegiate basketball at North Carolina State where he averaged 14.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game as a senior in 2006. Bennerman has played in the NBA Development League, and abroad in countries such as Australia, Italy, Spain, Poland, Argentina, Turkey, and Finland.
Loiselle was acquired in a trade that sent Anthony Criswell to the London Lightning. He started this season as a member of the Lightning, but is most well known for his 3 seasons with the Windsor Express where he won two league championships. Loiselle is a gritty combo forward who plays extremely hard and gets under opponents skin in the same manner as Dennis Rodman did in the NBA. He is from Montreal, Quebec and played at the University of Maine Fort Kent. In 2014 he was named to the NBL Canada All Star roster for the Central Division.
In the process of these acquisitions, Halifax also released Canadian Negus Webster-Chan and Joseph Bertrand. The Halifax Hurricanes also elected to trade the rights pertaining to Tyrone Watson to the Orangeville A's for cash considerations.
The Hurricanes are currently 16-7 and in first place in the Atlantic Division. |
