Damascus, Syria (12:00 P.M.) – Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) launched a powerful assault this morning inside the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus after losing large a chunk of territory to the Syrian Armed Forces near Hawsh Al-Nasri.
The Saudi-backed Islamist group began their assault by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses at the eastern neighborhoods of Jobar; this resulted in an outbreak of clashes near the Tayba Mosque.
In addition to the assault in the eastern neighborhoods, Jaysh Al-Islam would also target the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the Zamalka-Jobar axis, which failed to yield any gains for the Islamist rebel group.
Clashes are still ongoing near the Tayba Mosque of Jobar; however, the Syrian Armed Forces have repelled much of Jaysh Al-Islam’s fighters at several axes.
