Today, we’re heading to Sweden, the Mekka of Eurovision for many fans. And for our calendar present, we give you no less than two former Swedish entrants, with a total of four (FOUR!!) Eurovision participations between them. One is rather known for her many wonderful versions of Christmas songs, and here is one of them.

Carola represented Sweden in the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest in Munich with “FrĂ€mling”, finishing 3rd with 126 points. She returned in 1991 in Rome, winning the contest with “FĂ„ngad av en stormvind”, receiving 146 points. In the 2006 contest in Athens Carola was back, this time performing “Invincible”, finishing 5th with 170 points.

Gabriel Forss represented Sweden in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, as part of the band Blond. They performed the song “Bara hon Ă€lskar mig”, finishing 14th with 36 points.

I'm Norwegian, presently living in Iceland. My mom loves Eurovision, and always let me stay up to watch the contest since before I can remember, so I'm "second generation Eurovision lunatic". My musical god is David Bowie, so I'm obviously not into the stereotypical Eurovision songs. I prefer the rocky/bluesy/jazzy/ethnic songs over schlager and mainstream ballads, though I occasionally surprise myself (and others)... I HATE canned drums and "Cvet Z juga". Photo © Tobias König
