Hear Jidenna's Confident New Song 'Chief Don't Run'

Rapper references Wesley Snipes, boasts about hanging with the "Dalai Lama's homies" on track

Jidenna has debuted the boastful new single "Chief Don't Run."

Jidenna has released his latest boastful single "Chief Don't Run." The "Classic Man" rapper premiered the track at the BET Awards Pre-Show on Sunday night.

Above an infectious beat, Jidenna is still showing off his bravado but on a less pop-friendly track than his 2015 hit. "I'm on a yacht with a prince in Dubai now," he says during the first verse. "I'm with the Dalai Lama's homies in the sky lounge." Towards the end of the song, Jidenna references Wesley Snipes' legal trouble, sing-rapping "Paid my dues/But they still tryin' to Wesley Snipe us."

Jidenna is signed to Janelle Monáe's Wondaland Records. Prior to "Classic Man" taking off, he appeared on Monáe's "Yoga," which was released on the label compilation EP Wondaland Presents: The Eephus alongside his solo debut. Later in 2015, he debuted the single "Knickers." The Grammy-nominated artist has yet to release his own solo EP or album.
