I went to Camp De Baumholder with the 2nd Armored Division in 1951. We were the first one to occupy the barracks. They were beautiful 2 story rock buildings. It was the life of luxery until late in 1952 I got stupid and volunteered for Korea and wound up in the 7th Army, 17th Inf Regt, Co G, right in the middle of the battle. I was very lucky amd after the battle on Pork Chop Hill in Jul 1953 I got to rotate back to the states. I have some great memories of Baunholder and Ider Oberstein, and Frankfort.
