United States Adult Soccer Association - Region I

The weather decided to act up and we had to move from Ukrainian American Sports Center in Horsham, Pennsylvania. Fortunately, we were able to use The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken a few miles away. It was a bit windy but that kept the heat away and we had no rain. So the finals went through and we have three teams heading down to Virginia Beach, Virginia for the USASA National Cup Finals that will be played 16 to 18 July at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex Stadium. Congratulations to West Chester Majors of Eastern Pennsylvania who lifted the Region's Werner Fricker USASA Open Cup, to the Maryland Bays of Maryland in the USASA Amateur Cup and to ASA Charm City O-30 of Maryland as winner of the Gerhard Mengel USASA Over-30 Cup. We wish all our teams luck in the National Finals and that they repeat bringing the trophies back to Region I as was done last summer.

• Region I has a long and proud cup tradition. This we had 113 teams competing from among 10 state associations through state and regional rounds.  The Open Cup had 43 clubs, there were 49 in the Amateur and among the Over-30, 21 teams. We thank all of our teams for taking part in the cups and most of all our state association members for running their state qualifiers. The success of our Region I Cup Program is not with what we do in the Region but the hard work from our members and teams competing.

We ended the 2014 Cup season on a high note with all three of our regional winners going through to win the US Adult Soccer National Cup Finals.  Christos FC O-30 (MD) won their third consecutive Gerhard Mengel USASA Over-30 Cup, the Maryland Bays (MD) lifted the Werner Fricker USASA Open Cup and New Greek American Atlas (ENY) took the USASA Amateur Cup.  All three look to defend their regional & national titles but have to first qualify through their state associations.  Qualifiers for Region I will commence in April with the regional finals taking place on 21 June at the Ukrainian American Sports Center in Horsham, Pennsylvania.
