BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 P.M.) – The Army of Mohammad operations room – a coalition of anti-government militias including the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) jihadist group and Free Syrian Army (FSA) Islamist faction – after having launched a miserably unsuccessful offensive (despite it being backed by the Israeli Air Force) on the city of Madinat al-Baath over the last ten days, are now vowing to continue operations against pro-government forces.

According to a recent statement released by the militant coalition, forces of the Army of Mohammad operations room are to continue offensive actions against pro-government forces in Quneitra Governonate.

The document also claims that pro-government forces have so-far suffered over 120 men dead and lost four armored vehicles due to combat operations near the city of al-Baath. There is no way for Al-Masdar News to verify this claim.

Furthermore, according to the statement, the Army of Mohammad operations room was able to, by its offensive actions so far, relieve pressure on other fronts in Syria (likely a reference to Daraa and East Ghouta), improve coordination between the various Islamist militant groups involved in the mission and raised rebel morale.

No thanks or praise was offered to Israel for its provisional role as the de facto air force of the jihadist-led Army of Mohammad operations room during the offensive action of the preceding ten days.

  1. Dear Andrew Illingworth :
You should really read what I explained about aircraft/chopper armament for CAS (close air support). It makes really understandable why there was NO air support from Israelis but really, the reverse effect, roaches have profited from return fire to go after the stricken positions, simply as having a single AH-64 giving you air coverage/CAS is a REAL game changer : It would have meant SEVERAL DOZENs of vehicles smashed and several hundreds of casualties in SAA for ANY of these failed offensives. How things happened make really no sense in the context of a CAS for the roaches but is typical, on IDF side, of their ROE (rules of engagement) when shelling is made into their territory : neutralising the source of the shelling while avoiding casualties as much as possible.
And a F-16 can carry much more payload than AH-64. With 5 ‘offensives’ in 8 days benefiting from Israeli CAS, there’d be about +200 vehicles destroyed and 1000-2000 casualties and it’s my low-number. You must also know that the SAA tradition of shelling into Israel from Golan dates from 1948 when SAA managed to take the whole plateau from Israelis. This is very well documented in many history books.

It’s a bit sad to usually make usually really excellent analysis at the point I mostly find nothing to add to then falling really flat by simply neglecting how CAS takes place and the means to do this ‘job’ nowadays and it’s no surprise the shithadists do not thank or praise Israel in their communiqué, in fact, they could thank the typical anti-semitic idiots that had the awesome idea to do their so typical anti-Israeli provocation and the roaches were pretty clever to take profit of it!
Let’s wish that some clever commander will take a lesson from it and strictly forbids the Golan-Heights teams to not repeat any stupid provocation, especially as, face reality, these roaches are enemies for both countries and, actually, they’d both have great interest in teaming together, despite past issues in the last 69 years. Acting in a more adult way would greatly benefit both countries, I’m well placed to know about this, living in a border region where both countries went back and forth for several centuries, fuelling hatred and disdain on both parties while locals being taken between the anvil and the hammer suffered from this long competition.

    • You claim that Israel and rebels the Golan Heights are enemies. How do you explain this then:

“The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing interviews with half a dozen rebel leaders and three persons familiar Israel’s undeclared policy, that the Jewish state is helping these forces, which are opposed to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad and his Iranian, Lebanese and Russian allies, in an effort to help set up a buffer zone on its border with forces friendly to Israel.

According to the report, Israel set up a special military unit in 2016 to oversee and coordinate the transfer of the aid, which helps the groups pay salaries and buy weapons and ammunition.”
