Capital Cities share some sunshine with 'Swimming Pool Summer' EP release

It's been three years since LA-based Capital Cities released their debut, In A Tidal Wave of Mystery, luring us to the dance floor with their hit single "Safe and Sound," but now they're back with the aptly titled Swimming Pool Summer EP, just in time to cool you off from the sweltering summer sun.

Released today by Lazy Hooks / Capitol Records, the EP celebrates summertime romance with four brand new tracks and a remix of the title track, "Swimming Pool Summer" – a song about a pool party we all wish we were invited to, peppered with the lyrics "I can't escape the heat" a double entendre explaining what it's like to fall in deep for a sunglassed girl at a pool party and a nod to life in summertime in general.

The highlight of the EP is "Girl Friday," featuring Rick Ross, a track about a guy who can't get a date with his busy dream girl. With lyrics like "she's got things to do every day of the week," it's the kind of modern day love story we can get behind.
