Updates For Onyx Android 4.0.4 systems
MFG Tool Pack is only needed for roll back from Android 4.4 or for reparation of a malfunctioning installation. Please backup your content and annotations before using it. It cleans and formats all storage partitions!
We are generally checking workability of updates before release, however we always use MFG tool for updating and there is obviously no version or hardware verify check. So please doublecheck you have downlodad the correct package for your device!
If you want to install update using Onyx OTA (update.zip files) and your OnyxOtaService reports problems by verify check, please check whether you have used correct update file on your device. The android-info.txt in the update. package must contain proper setting for your device (e.g. board=N96CML)
Please also check the current installed software version. If it is not an USER version (e.g. an ENG - engineers version), an USER update will not be accepted by OTA.
In this case we suggest to use MFG Tool for updating of your device. Please backup your content first!

How to update software on Onyx Boox |

For Max, N96, M96, i86 and T68 series Copy update.zip to the root folder of your device (it means don't copy it in any sub-folder on it).

For customers, who would like to try the pre-release version of Android 4.4.
Please be aware:
- This is still an unofficial pre-release version. Official release should come soon. There is no support for this version yet. Some features and app migration are still in work and could be not available yet.
- You must backup your content from device before upgrade, since internal storage will be formatted
- You must re-add your google account and re-set connectivity settings after upgrade.
- When you want to return to Android 4.0.4 just download proper MFG packages and follow steps with MFG Tools again. It is just a matter of 5 minutes.
Upgrade to Android 4.4 is currently only possible with MFG2 Tools. To be able to use it please follow instructions.
- MFG Tool work on Windows PC only. It must not be installed. Just download the package, unzip it in a folder.
- Connect your device to your PC (if possible don’t use USB 3.0 ports). Power off it (long press on power button) and start MfgTool2.exe from unzipped folder
- You must set your Boox in download mode now. Just re-boot your device in this mode using a special buttons combination: Press PgDn (<) + PgUp (>) + power button for 3-4 seconds. The led blinks once but screen remains unchanged. Your device is in download mode now and MFG program window should report HID compliant device connected.
- Press start button and wait for your update being installed
