NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast Athletic Department had a record-setting semester in the classroom during the Fall 2013 term.

Nine student-athletes earned 4.0 grade point averages (GPA) this semester. Over 62 percent of Grenadier student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or better during the fall semester. The entire athletic department combined for an average GPA above 3.00 for the first time. All of these marks set new academic records for the IU Southeast athletic department since the honor roll was created in the fall of 2010.

"I applaud each of our student-athletes for their high achievement in the classroom this semester," IU Southeast Athletic Director Joe Glover said. "Each of these young men and women have shown a great ability to manage their time and priorities in order to be successful in the classroom and in competition."

Four Grenadier athletic teams finished the semester with an average GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Grenadier women's tennis team had the department's highest team GPA at 3.4.

The softball team had five students achieve a 4.0 GPA. The Grenadier softball team was the only program to have multiple students earn a 4.0 GPA.

The Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of IU Southeast student-athletes. To earn recognition, student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average for the most recent semester.
