BACKGROUND:

On June 6, 2006, Correct Care received a notice of intent to award a contract from the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families for the management and operation of the 580-bed Florida Civil Commitment Center. Correct Care was to assume management of this secure treatment facility for Sexually Violent Predators, detained or civilly committed under The Involuntary Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators Act (FS 394.910) under an operations agreement with an initial term of five years beginning January 1, 2007, and three five-year renewal option periods. However, on June 15, 2006, an interim contract was signed with the state for Correct Care to assume management of the existing facility on July 1, 2006. Capacity was increased to 734 beds in November 2008. Under the terms of a development contract, Correct Care designed and constructed a new 720-bed replacement facility in Arcadia, Florida. Our carefully designed and highly secure civil commitment facility meets ACA standards for secure residential construction, but is specifically planned and designed to provide a conducive environment to fully support the facility’s treatment, rehabilitation, and accreditation mission.Correct Care assumed operation of the new facility upon its completion in April 2009 under the terms of the operations contract.

 

SERVICES:

Correct Care has a proven track record in providing state-of-the-art treatment programs for sexual offenders including medical, psychological, psychiatric, dental, vocational, recreational, educational and dietary. In addition to these services, Correct Care provides all appropriate personnel with specialized training in the needs of sex offenders and provides group therapy sessions to those who participate voluntarily in such services. Correct Care provide’s for the control, care and treatment of civilly committed sexually violent predators in a non-punitive setting until such time as a resident’s mental abnormality or personality disorder has so changed that a court determines it is safe for the person to be at large. Correct Care also houses detainees awaiting their civil commitment trial. Correct Care is committed to employing local candidates who are licensed and qualified to treat this unique population and ensures that its staffing patterns are consistent with the facility’s mission. Correct Care ensures that all employees and contracted persons comply with all state, federal and local laws as well as ordinances, Governing Standards, policies and procedures, rules, court orders, applicable protocols and Facility standard operating procedures. In addition, Correct Care ensures that all staff, professional and para-professional, receive necessary and requisite statutorily mandated in-services, annual or proficiency training and education programs needed to ensure proficiency in the particular discipline or specialty.
