I’m an otome game fan is. That is, I enjoy dating sims for women, where a player has a harem of men around to meet every possible need. Perhaps it’s because I grew up on shoujo (girl’s) manga and anime, I don’t know. All I know is, if it’s possible to attempt a recreation of that situation in a game, I’m sure going to do that. Fortunately, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force seem to understand that, because I’ve been building the best harem in Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires.
Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is your standard, Warriors/Musou beat’em up, but it’s also a simulation where you have to unite China under your banner. There are various situations built into the game, but the option making my dreams come true is the custom commander mode. A person can create their own character and blaze their own trail across the country. In my case, I decided to make the most honorable Quail-chan.
As you can see, she’s so named for her gravity-defying wisp of hair. (It’s one amazing ahoge!)
When you go with a custom character in a Dynasty Warriors 8 campaign, you’re given the opportunity to choose your initial followers. Since the game also offers the opportunity to have your leader pair off with one of his or her officers, perhaps even getting married and having children, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to fill my ranks with the hottest warriors. Hm, I wonder if that’s where they got the name Romance of the Three Kingdoms?
Anyway, this led to me filling my ranks with gorgeous men. Their original alliances didn’t matter. I wanted my character to be a queen surrounded by eye candy.
Naturally, one of them fell hard for Quail-chan. Friendship with officers increases either by throwing banquets, engaging in one-on-one interactions, or fighting together on the battlefield.
Which meant I had to marry Quail-chan off to Zhou Yu immediately. (Sorry, Xiaoqiao. He’s mine now.)
And now I’m just waiting for Quail-chan and Zhou Yu to start popping out kids so they can found their own dynasty. Because that’s a thing that can happen in Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires. Your characters can get married, have kids, and the kids can get in on the family business.
As you can tell, I’m having fun and loving this extra feature. It’s a fun bonus and absolutely enhances the overall Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires experience.
