Ever wondered why your jeans are so expensive? Unique behind-the-scenes video reveals how denim is REALLY made

It's not uncommon for 'distressed' jeans to cost more than a brand new-looking pair, something that has long confused customers.

So denim label Citizens of Humanity is hoping to set the record straight with a new behind-the-scenes video that shows how a pair of premium jeans is really made.

The video gives a unique insight into the denim-making process, following one pair of jeans as it is put together in the Citizens of Humanity wash house facilities in Los Angeles.

Hand-laundering, lasering, whiskering, hand abrasions, creating rips, fitting the jeans, mending and repairing, and adding a Premium Vintage leather patch is just some of the steps the video features.

'People often ask why some jeans are priced higher than others, and this video gives an insight into where the differences lie,' said a Citizens of Humanity spokesperson.
