Ricardo Lagos
Synopsis
Ricardo Lagos served as president of Chile from 2000 - 2006 and was the first to hold the office since General Pinochet's military coup. As president he vowed not to block attempts to prosecute Pinochet and his popularity was bolstered by enacting social reforms, including the legalization of divorce in 2004. Lagos was succeeded by Michelle Bachelet, the country's first woman president.
