AllMusic Review by

Retooling their aesthetic and redefining their sound since their years on DHR, Cobra Killer have revamped themselves as a twosome hell-bent on emulating a psychobilly B-movie soundtrack from the '60s. But that's only on the surface. Thankfully, the 11 songs here are (much like their predecessors) in fine form. Taking a page or two from the Chicks on Speed handbook, the gals deliver chopped up lyrics for the jet-set swirled around disjointed, distorted synths and basslines around rapid-fire drums -- taking a break occasionally for the surprising number (check the surf-rock driven "L.A. Shaker.") Eventually, the album finds its way into paying homage to both new wave and no wave, but it never loses the foundation of what makes Cobra Killer sound so distinct in the first place.
