Out of Bambang Irawan’s five children, only two stepped into the film industry—Dewi and her younger sister Ria Irawan. Under the care of her father, Dewi has always been familiar with acting, having acquainted with it ever since she was in kindergarten. However, acting wasn’t the only thing that she was interested in; she was proficient in some traditional dances and also in sports, before she was then started to become known because of her role in Belai Kasih (1973).
Through Chaerul Umam’s 1982 film Titian Serambut Dibelah Tujuh, Dewi earned an FFI (Indonesian Film Festival) Best Lead Actress nomination in 1983. Yet it was her role in Sang Penari 28 years later that got her the trophy, this time in the Supporting Actress category.

Entering the Jakarta Institute of Arts fresh off high school, Adri was initially interested in animation as he often draws. Yet a week into his studies in animation, an encounter with Vittorio De Sica’s 1948 classic The Bicycle Thief built a resolute aspiration in him—to become a film director.
In 2008 he directed his graduation project—a black-and-white short titled The Storyteller. In 2010, while working as a crew in a feature film production in Hong Kong, he was given access to a 35mm film camera to shoot his next short film, Nyanyian para Pejuang Sunyi (Song of the Silent Heroes). The film went on to be screened in several film festivals, both in and outside Indonesia, and the next year it brought him the Best Director award at the 6th Indonesian Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia. In 2012, he directed two short films, each as a part of an omnibus. The first one was Pasar Setan (Ghost Market), a part of Hi5teria, and Menunggu Warna (Waiting for Colors) of Sanubari Jakarta (Jakarta Deep Down). Adri knows his way around the kitchen and the themes of food and nostalgia come as natural for him, “This film feels like having a taste of your favorite childhood meal once again, brimming with a harmony of nostalgia and memories that crossed our minds when we had that first bite.”

Growing up around his HiFi-enthusiast father and a brother that’s hooked on electro physics, it was not unusual for him to get acquainted to the world of audio.

In 2000, Adit got his first gig as a sound designer in Petulangan Sherina (Sherina’s Adventure). Six years after his first work as a sound recordist in Mereka Bilang, Saya Monyet! (They Say I’m a Monkey!), Ichsan still finds his job incredibly exciting. Not only is he challenged to record clear, usable sounds but he also has to make sure they are as real as they can possibly be. Ichsan was involved in several international productions, including Kinks, V/H/S/2 and The Raid 2, and is actively working in feature films, documentaries and TV commercials.
